How do I use this site?

WHAT BROWSER DO I NEED TO USE THIS SITE?
Our site works best with Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher or Netscape 5.0 or higher. It may work with lower browsers, but we can't guarantee that it will.
WHY DO I NEED TO REGISTER?
Registration enables you to customize your usage of the site. You'll be able to choose to receive (or not receive) e-mail notifications when new material is posted on the site and speed your ordering of subscriptions, books, reports and much more. Registration also allows you to join in the give-and-take on the revamped and improved message boards. It also allows us to make sure that the boards are used as a place for the exchange of great ideas. Registration is free.
HOW DO I LOG IN? HOW DO I KNOW IF I'M LOGGED IN?
Simply look at the navigation bar on the far left of the screen. If it says "Log In," then click on it to log in. You will need your e-mail address and the password you chose when you registered. Don't want to have to remember another password? Choose the "remember my password" box at the bottom of the login and the system will plug in your password when you enter your e-mail address. If the navigation bar says "Log Out," then you are currently logged in. You do not need to be logged in to read posts on the message board. If you wish to reply to a message or start a new thread, you will need to be logged in.
HOW DO I POST A RESPONSE TO A MESSAGE?
First, make sure you are logged in. Then choose the message you want to respond to. At the top right of the message, there is a "Post Response" link. Click on this link and a new window will open for you to type your response. Type your response and click the submit button at the bottom of the window. This will submit your response and it should show up immediately underneath the message you replied to.
I WANT TO START MY OWN THREAD.
Simply click on the topic that fits your question or comment. You will see a link at the top of the page that says "start new thread." When you click on it, a box will pop up in the same way it does for replying to a message. You will also have the option to add key words to your post. These will not show up in your actual post, but will help people outside of the site who search with search engines like Google to find your post easier. This is not a mandatory part of the posting process. When you have finished typing your message, simply click the submit button and it will show up.
I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW THE SPELL CHECKER IN THE MESSAGE BOARDS WORKS.
When posting a message, there is a spell checker at the top of the box for your reference. It will open another box that highlights the words it believes you spelled wrong and gives you alternative spellings for those words. It won't change the words for you, but it will provide you with the correct spelling if you want to change it. This is not a mandatory part of posting a message, simply an added feature for those who prefer it.
I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW THE NEW MESSAGE BOARDS ARE ARRANGED.
Because we heard that our old message boards took so long to load, we've arranged the new boards into topic areas. When you're at the first screen, you'll see the topic areas to choose from along with how many posts are listed for each topic and when the last post was added. If you click on the topic youíre interested in, it will take you to the posts within that topic. Click on the post you would like to read and youíll see the post and all responses on one screen. And don't worry, all the messages from the old board are still available to read. They're in the archive section at the bottom of the first message board page. You can read them all, but you will not be able to post responses in the archived message sections, so go ahead and start a new thread!
HOW TO I GET BACK TO WHERE THE TOPICS ARE LISTED?
Our message boards have a great feature—"breadcrumbing." What that means is that at the top of each screen, text links show you the path you've taken to get to where you are. So if once you get into actual posts in one of the topic areas and you want to go back to where all the topics are listed click on the first link. If you want to go back only one screen, click on the topic at the top. The logo in the top left corner will always take you back to the home page.
