DIAGRAM: "Mid-Line Bubble Screen" This play, when run after you've been using the mid-line option, is a great way to take advantage of a defense that's focused on stopping the mid-line option. The formation is called "Rip," which places the Z receiver as a WB. The TB goes in motion and blocks the play-side CB. The X receiver cracks on the SS, while the Y receiver and offensive line cut block. The FB runs his mid-line path at full speed, selling the run fake. The QB takes his mid-line steps, rides the FB into the LOS and then takes two steps down the line. In one fluid motion, the QB then hits Z who is running the bubble screen route. Z gets outside and upfield as quickly as he can.
